The Scott and Norma Matheson Wetlands Preserve (the Preserve) occupies nearly 900 acres between the Colorado River and the city of Moab, Utah, and encompasses an extensive floodplain-wetland complex that provides several unique functions in the arid west such as recreation, educational opportunities, and crucial aquatic habitats for sensitive wildlife species. This multi-year study and vegetation mapping identifies dominant vegetation and wetland communities, likely water sources, and hydropatterns for all features greater than 0.1 acres on the Preserve and establishes baseline data, research, and monitoring necessary to evaluate potential impacts and develop strategies to maintain the ecological health of the Preserve.
