The Manti quadrangle can best be visualized as consisting of parts of four physiographic elements. From east to west these are (1) the west flank of the San Rafael Swell (2) the south half of the Wasatch Plateau (3) the south half of the Gunnison Plateau (all three within the Colorado Plateaus Province) and 4) the east half of the Valley Mountains (essentially the easternmost range of the Basin and Range Province).
