Contains the Utah Renewable Energy Zones (UREZ) Phase I report, produced by the Utah Geological Survey at the request of Governor Huntsman's UREZ Task Force. The purpose of the UREZ Task Force is to identify and promote the development of renewable energy resources to meet the goal of 20 percent of Utah’s electrical retail sales by 2025. Work groups were established to identify energy zones for wind, solar, and geothermal energy resources. The UREZ Phase I report identifies renewable energy zones (approximately 13,262 square miles) and an estimated 837 gigawatts of electrical generating capacity.
