The Heiners Creek quadrangle is located southeast of Ogden and northeast of Salt Lake City, Utah. The major geographic features in and near the quadrangle are the Weber River, Lost Creek, and Echo Canyon drainages. Echo Canyon and Henefer Valley are major railroad and interstate highway transportation corridors. The quadrangle is geologically significant for the exposures of Late Cretaceous and early Tertiary synorogenic conglomerates related to the Cordilleran orogeny.
This is the first detailed geologic map of this entire quadrangle. Also included in this publication is: a description of geologic units; a simplified cross-section; two correlation charts; and a lithologic column. This open-file release makes information available to the public during the review and production period necessary for a formal UGS publication. The map may be incomplete, and inconsistencies, errors, and omissions have not been resolved.
