With the continued demand for U.S. derived energy products, research and development for unconventional sources of oil and gas has increased, including research geared towards unlocking the vast oil sand resources of the Uinta Basin. In particular, the Southeastern Uinta Basin has been recognized by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management as having oil shale development potential; however, this area generally lacks sufficient water-quality data to characterize the area's surface water and relatively shallow groundwater. The primary objective in this study (24p. + 4 Appendices) is to establish baseline water quality in these areas.
